MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Mar. 21) Donald, who won the last Late Model Special at Boyd’s Speedway, came up one spot short of making it two in a row when he finished second to Dale McDowell in the Southern Nationals Bonus event Saturday night.

Donald qualified second in the second group, drew four and finished third in the dash. He would settle into second behind McDowell in the early laps, but was never able to do anything with the leader and ultimate winner.

“We had a good car in a field of good cars and although we could keep Dale (McDowell) close we could never really do anything with him,” said David. “There are times with this new car that we think it is smarter than we are and it probably is. We are not running all that bad and knowing just how good this car can and will be is a good thing.”

Next up for Donald and the Blount Motorsports Team is the Spring Nationals double header this Friday and Saturday night at Senoia Raceway. Following that will be another double-header with the Lucas race at Boyd’s and the Ultimate event at Smoky Mountain.

“We are just now getting into the early season and the schedule is starting to pick up. Hopefully the weather will cooperate so we can get into a nice groove and start picking up the wins,” concluded David.
