MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Mar. 17) Starting tenth in the Southeastern Classic at Dixie Speedway Saturday night Donald took his time and raced to a third place finish. It was the sixth top five finish, including two wins, in the first eight races run in 2015 by the young Georgia driver.
“We had a carburetor problem during the race and when Donald got heavy into the gas the motor would skip and pop. It leveled out a little bit in the middle laps and came back toward the end,” said David “It was our oldest carburetor and it needed freshening.
You never know how things would have turned out, but as good as the car was I feel like we gave away a win Saturday night.”
Although the current car is right where they want it the team will shake down a new Rocket tonight at Smoky Mountain Speedway. If things work well with the new car it will be the car they run at Cleveland Speedway on Friday night and at Boyd’s Speedway on Saturday night for the two Southern Nationals Bonus Races
“This March weather has been frustrating, but it has enabled us to get a bunch done at the shop. We will be going into April with a dozen races in the books, all three cars in top shape and a lot of momentum. If you sat down and wrote up how you wanted to start a season this would be it,” concluded David.
