MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Jul. 22) In the first two of the 10 Southern Nationals races Donald McIntosh and the Blount Motorsports Team are pleased to have scored a third and first place finishes. They lead Vic Hill by a scant three points as they get ready for the remainder of the series.
On Monday at Wythe Raceway they started fifth and finished third. On Tuesday night at 411 Motor Speedway they won the Dash, started on the pole and led every lap for the win.
“We are running pretty good and in order to do well in this short series we need to continue to stay on top of our game and make good decisions,” said David Bryant. “We know we have our work cut out for us and the competition has been and will be tough right down to the wire.”
Billy Ogle Jr. and Vic Hill are strong right out of the box and Casey Roberts will pick it up a bit when he gets to some of his better tracks. All three of these teams are running a Longhorn Chassis and that seems to be the hot ticket right now.
“The Longhorn Chassis seems to have a little bit of an advantage right now and with Ogle, Hill and Roberts all driving one, we are going to have to really pay attention to make sure there is a Rocket in the mix at the end,” continued Bryant. “Like the Spring Nationals Championship that was won at the last race by two points the Southern Nationals Championship battle will be tight and it wouldn’t surprise me if it came down to the last race.
The better the competition, the better it is for the competitors, the series, the sponsors, the fans and for racing.”
After a day off the teams will head to Modoc Raceway on Thursday with races at Swainsboro Raceway, Screven Raceway and Rome Speedway on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
