MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 5) Mechanical issues on both nights of the Lucas Oil Super Bowl of Auto Racing put Casey Roberts and the Blount Motorsports team way behind and on the trailer at Golden Isles Speedway.

After finishing last on Friday night everything was looking good on Saturday until a vibration started on the last practice lap. After checking the car and finding the flywheel had broken there was not enough time to fix the problem and/or roll out the backup car.

“The car felt good and was running good in hot laps when Casey (Roberts) felt a vibration on the last lap. The flywheel had broken around the starter ring and there was no way we could get it fixed or get the backup car out and be ready in time,” said David Bryant. “With no chance for a provisional and not chasing Lucas points we decided that it was best not to get in a big hurry and maybe mess up the backup car too. So we became spectators.”

On Friday night Roberts missed transferring to the feature out of his heat by one spot. He finished second in the first consi and started the feature 19th. Eight laps in the throttle springs went and throttle hung wide open.

“For the short time we were on the track in the feature Friday night we had moved up five spots when the throttle springs went causing the throttle to hang wide open. Thankfully Casey was able to shut it down and it didn’t hurt the engine, but it killed the night,” concluded Bryant.

The car and the crew are staying in the Brunswick area getting everything back in shape and ready for the WoO Winter Freeze at Screven Speedway on Friday and Saturday nights.
