MARYVILLE, Tenn (May 27) Over the Memorial Weekend Tommy and the BMS team scored two additional top five finishes before missing the feature at Eldora.
On Friday night Tommy and the Blount Motorsports Team was at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA for the TTDCS event. Tommy took the lead from Billy Ogle Jr. lap 11 and would lead the next 25 laps. On lap 37 Ogle would retake the lead and go on to take the checkered flag with Kerr settling for second. A rough track would see only eight cars of the 24 who started the race running at the end.
“As rough as the track was it’s a wonder anyone finished,” said Tommy. “Billy (Ogle Jr.) was just a little bit better than us at the end.”
On Saturday night KTommyand the BMS team were greeted by another rough race track when they raced in the Battle of the Bluegrass feature at Tazewell (TN) Speedway.
“With all the rain it is hard to have a race track that isn’t rough and Tazewell was no exception,” continued Tommy. ‘We started sixth and finished fourth.”
After Tazewell the team headed to the famed Eldora Speedway for the Johnny Appleseed Classic. Tommy finished seventh in his heat and third in the first B-main. As they were taking two from the B-Mains he did not start the race.
“I haven’t figured out Eldora yet, but we are going to give it another shot and try to make the Dream in a couple of weeks. The crew gives me a good race car, but I just have not been able to get a handle on the track,” concluded Tommy.
The two top five finishes over the weekend gives the team five top five finishes including one win in the last seven races.
This weekend Tommy and the team will be racing the Tennessee Thunder event at The Mountain Raceway Park on Saturday night.
