MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Jul 6) After taking the lead Friday night in the Iron-Man event at Tazewell Speedway Donald was spun. He was able to come back and finish fifth. On Saturday night in the Iron-Man event at Volunteer Speedway McIntosh started seventh and finished third.

On Friday night after passing Vic Hill for the lead, Hill came charging back and got into Donald. The result of the contact was a spinning BMS Rocket and a flat left rear. After pitting he was able to come back through the field and finish fifth

“Man Tazewell has never been good to me, but tonight it wasn’t Tazewell it was my engine builder,” said Donald with a shrug. “We were running good had the lead with a clean pass and bang. Vic said he ran out of brakes.”

Saturday night was one of those that wasn’t good, but it wasn’t bad either. It was a middle of the road deal.

“We are better than we have been, but not as good as we need to be,” said David. “Friday night should have been a whole lot better, but what are you going to do?”

Next up is the Southern Nationals with 12 Races in 16 days across four states. Although it is a bit of a grind David and Donald always look forward to it and especially with former crew member Taylor Watson on board for this year’s series.

“We are running better and looking forward to the Southern Nationals starting this Friday night at Smoky Mountain,” said Donald. “Basically for a couple of weeks all you do is race and having Taylor onboard will make it that much better.”

“We are in pretty good shape and running decent. We look forward to the Southern Nationals every year and this year is no exception,” said David. “You get a serious dose of racing in a short period of time and in past years we have figured a lot of things out in previous Southern Nationals.”
