MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Mar. 11) Tommy Kerr had an oil line come off as he was pulling out for his heat race in the Tennessee Tip Off Classic prelims Friday night. Instead of taking a chance on really hurting the engine they decided to call it a weekend.
“With the weather being what it is and it being a day race where there won’t be a lot of passing it didn’t make any sense to put the oil line back on and take a chance of really hurting the engine,” said Kerr in a phone interview as he watched the snow come down on noon Saturday. “We will pull the pan and check everything out the right way next week at the shop.”
Teammate Donald MacIntosh won the third heat and will start third in the feature if it isn’t snowed out.
