MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 23) Blount Motorsports was looking forward to a three race weekend starting with The Scorcher at Volunteer Speedway on Thursday. As it turned out The Scorcher was the only race they would run.

On Thursday night at Volunteer Speedway Donald, Tommy, and the Blount Motorsports team were ready to roll. Donald would start 12th and post a fourth place finish in the 50-lap event at the 4/10-mile high banked oval. Tommy’s car suffered mechanical problems and he didn’t start the race.

“Although we didn’t qualify as well as we would have liked we had a good race car and Donald did a great job working his way to a fourth place finish,” said David. “After the race we found that the right rear had lost some air which helped explain why our finish wasn’t a bit better.

There were mechanical problems with Tommy’s car and he was unable to start the race.”

On Friday night the scene shifted to Crossville Speedway for an Ultimate sanctioned $4,000 to win event. After making four qualifying laps with the teams transponder and four qualifying laps using the sanctioning bodies transponder the Ultimate officials informed the team that they had gotten one lap on a stop watch and they would start fifth.

“Lets just say there was a discrepancy with what the series officials came up with and we decided to load up and go to the house,” said David.

Actually they loaded up and headed to Richmond Speedway in Richmond, Kentucky for a Southern Nationals Bonus Race on Saturday night. The race was rained out and that seemed to be a fitting end to the weekend.

The next race for Blount Motorsports will be the Southern Nationals Bonus Race presented by Food City this Saturday night at Smoky Mountain Speedway.
