MARYVILLE, TN (Apr. 28) Two under par qualifying runs made for a long night for the Blount Motorsport Team at Volunteer Speedway Saturday night.

Billy Ogle Jr. qualifying 16th and Tommy Kerr 19th out of 32 cars. Ogle would start 17th and Kerr not making the field. Ogle worked his way from his 17th starting spot to finish eighth, the last car on the lead lap.

“We dug ourselves a hole by not qualifying well,” said Larry Garner. “If you don’t qualify well for today’s Late Model races you are not going to finish well. Today’s fields are so strong that if you start in the middle or back of the pack you are going to have to be real lucky to have a good finish.

We have all the pieces all we have to do is get them all together on the same night.”

The Blount Motorsports team is going to take this weekend off and come back the next weekend with two races. The first will be the $5,000 to win Ultimate at Volunteer Speedway on Friday May 6 and the second another $5,000 Ultimate the next night at Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, VA.

Blount Motorsports enjoys sponsorship from Arnold Trucking, Bearden Oil Company, Blount Excavating, Cherokee Millwright, GEOServices, Insurance Partners, Massey Electric, Stowers (CAT) Machinery Corp. and Wine and Spirits Cellar.

They race Rocket chassis powered by Custom Race Engines with Dyer’s Top Rods and Gibbs Oil. The shocks are from Öhlins, chassis and suspension components from TWM, drive train components from Quarter Master, Sunoco Race Fuel from Bearden Oil and tires from Hoosier Racing Tires.
