MARYVILLLE, Tenn. (July 19) Casey came from mid-pack to score his second fifth place Southern Nationals finish at 411 Motor Speedway on Tuesday night. Teammate Kerr, who also started mid-pack, had an early exit due to engine failure.

In the first two Southern Nationals events Roberts has started 14th and raced his way to a fifth place finish.

“Like I said after the opener we just need to have a night where we get everything right. Here at 411 we did the same thing as we did at Wythe, we didn’t qualify well, but raced well,” said David. “The way things are set up if you don’t qualify in the top five of each group you are going to start mid-pack at best. For Casey to be able to move up nine positions both nights you know the car and the driver are good, but with the competition being what it is, good isn’t good enough if you are starting 14th.”

Tommy coming off a SAS win at Smoky Mountain and back-to-back quality runs had high hopes for a good finish at 411, but it was not to be. After finishing third in the first heat he lined up one spot behind Casey in fifteenth. Engine failure as he was looking at moving into the top 10 ended his night prematurely. He was scored 19th in the final tally.

Tonight the series moves to Toccoa Speedway in Toccoa Georgia for the first of four consecutive races in Georgia. Toccoa is Casey’s home track and the team hopes to find the combination they have been looking for and break out of their season long rut.
