MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 26) Track induced mechanical problems ended Casey Robert’s run in the Iron-Man Frostbuster at Volunteer Speedway Saturday afternoon.

With 12 Super Late Models in attendance Robert’s lined up where he qualified, fourth. With 22 laps in the books he was battling with Cory Hedgecock for second when the car bottomed out and a mud clod shucked the dry sump belt. When the belt went he spun the car and that was it for the afternoon.

“You get on a winning roll and it is like you can’t do anything wrong and you never want it to end. When you get on a loosing roll like we are on now you can’t do anything right and it won’t end fast enough,” said Roberts. “No matter what kind of a roll you get on you ride it out and that is what we are doing now. Riding it out and trying to get this monkey off our back.”

It is early in the season and if you had to pick a time to have back luck this would be the time, but that doesn’t make all the problems any easier to take.

“We have had a real rough go here early in the season. We know it is still winter and like the track conditions, things are not going to be smooth, but we haven’t been anywhere near where we should be either,” said David Bryant. “We should be way better than we have been so far this year. Hopefully we will get back to where we need to be soon and have everything clicking when the season really opens up.”

Next up for the BMS team is the 16th Annual SAS March Madness at Cherokee Speedway, Sunday March 4.

“I have always liked racing at Cherokee and a good run there next weekend would be just what the team needs,” concluded Roberts.
