MARYVILLE, Tenn. (June, 9) After starting deep in the third heat Tommy Kerr in his second outing of the season never made the first lap after a hard hit sent him coasting to the pits.

“My qualifying wasn’t much and I started way back in the third heat. Never made the first lap when I took a hard hit,” said Kerr. “I coasted into the pits to get checked out and something was wrong under the hood so on the trailer it went.”

For Kerr who has run a limited schedule for a number of years, this would have been his second race of the year.

“I am not running that many races and with the virus deal this year I ran one back in March. We have the Lucas Oil Series race Saturday night at Smoky Mountain and it would be nice to get back on track in that one,” concluded Kerr.

Kerr was hit so hard it knocked the dry sump belt off the engine. Not knowing if there was any damage to the engine that was it for the night.

Both Donald McIntosh and Tommy Kerr will be driving at Smoky Mountain Speedway this Saturday night for the Lucas Oil Series Mountain Moonshine Classic.
