MARYVILLE, Tenn (June 22) Tommy Kerr and the Blount Motorsports team stayed close to home running the Tennessee Thunder Dirt Car Series event at Mountain Raceway Park Saturday night and drove the Explosive Specialists sponsored GW Performance Rocket to a disappointing sixth place finish.

“We were just a little off with the car Saturday night and that is all it takes to not finish well,” said Tommy shaking his head. “Normally we run well here, but not tonight.”

Tommy, who is recovering from neck and back problems, went on to say that they had worked with Butlerbilt to put some extra padding and lumbar support in the seat.

“With the help from Robert over at Butlerbilt the neck and back were not the problem I had anticipated,” continued Tommy. “The doctors are telling me that after a little more work and if I can keep from doing anything stupid everything should be fine.”

This Friday night Kerr and the BMS team plan to travel to Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, Ga. for the TTDCS event. On Saturday there is not much in the way of racing locally so as it stands now they will not be racing on Saturday or Sunday.

Blount Motorsports enjoys sponsorship from Blount Excavating, Stowers Machinery Corp., Kelso, Turner Industrial Supply, GEOServices, Cast Stone, Wine and Spirits Cellar, Insurance Partners, Explosive Specialists and the newest addition Arnold Trucking of Tellico Plains Tenn.

Tommy races a GW Performance Rocket chassis with power from Custom Race Engines, shocks from Öhlins, chassis and suspension components from TWM, seats from Butlerbilt and tires from Hoosier Racing Tires.
