MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Mar. 4) Donald McIntosh piloted the new BMS Rocket XR1 to a fifth place finish in the Ultimate Southeast Series opener at North Georgia Speedway on Saturday night.
Driving the 2019 Rocket XR1 in its first race Donald qualified fifth in the first group and lined up ninth on the grid.
“The new car was great. We were a tad off in qualifying and started mid-pack, but we are gaining on it,” said Donald who had a good late race battle with Shane Clanton for fourth. “The car was really good on the restarts for about three laps and then it would tighten up in the corners a bit. All we needed was a caution every three laps for the last 15 laps.
I’m really excited about taking the car to the WoO Tipoff at Smoky this weekend. It could be good.”
In the race the new car was good and Donald was able to move into the top five and put pressure on Shane Clanton for fourth in the final laps of the 40-lap event.
“It was a promising night. Everything went real smooth and it was our first solid run of the year,” said David. “New car was good, nothing fell off of it and nothing got torn up so we are good to go for the WoO race this weekend.”
Both Donald and Tommy are ready to go for the WoO Tennessee Tipoff at Smoky Mountain Speedway next Saturday.
