MARYVILLE, Tenn. (July 1) Friday night at Boyd’s Speedway Tommy Kerr had the Blount Motorsports Late Model right where he wanted it, in the lead, but a miscalculation caused the nose to hook the inside wall. The contact resulted in a spin and a trip to the rear of the pack.“We were hooked up and running well when the driver got carried away,” said Kerr. “I don’t know exactly what happened, but one minute everything was wonderful and the next I made contact with the wall and spun the car out.”Kerr qualified tenth, won the second dash and started the race seventh. He worked his was to the front, took the lead and while leading found the inside wall in turn two and spun. After the spin Kerr went to the back of the pack and was listed as 15th in the final rundown.“This was not what I had in mind to welcome new crew chief Gary Winger to the team. We were headed for our first Advance Thunder win of the season and the driver had brain fade,” continued Kerr. “On the bright side we had a great car and are looking forward to the three special races coming up over the Fourth of July.”This Thursday July 3 the team will be at Wartburg Speedway for the Mack 50 paying $7,500 to win. On the Fourth the team will move to Tazewell Speedway for the Lucas Oil Series event. Then on Saturday they finish up with the Lucas Oil Series event at Volunteer Speedway. Both of the Lucas events pay $10,000 to win.Blount Motorsports enjoys sponsorship from Blount Excavating, Stowers Machinery Corp., Kelso, Turner Industrial Supply, GEOServices, Cast Stone, Wine and Spirits Cellar, Insurance Partners, Explosive Specialists and Murphy’s Bobcat.
