MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Jan 3) There is no better way to start off a new year and a new season than with a dominating win and that is exactly what Donald and the Blount Motorsports team did when they won the Hangover 40 at 411 Motor Speedway on January 1.
Donald was the fastest qualifier and started on the outside front row of the 40- lap event. He would out run pole sitter Ray Cook to take the lead on the first lap and would lead the next 39 circuits for the season opening win.
“This wasn’t the new XR1 car from Rocket, but it was the new blue front end car that replaced the one that died at Eldora. We were able to apply some of the new technology and the car was awesome,” said Donald. “What a great confidence boost going into the season.”
The car was nearly flawless and a testimony to the teams dedication and hard work in the abbreviated off-season.
We started getting dialed in on some of the new technology at the end of the season and carried that through the off-season. The setup on the car we won with this year wasn’t even close to the one we won with last year,” said David. “We were fast all day, came away with a win and after all the hard work there is no better reward.”
The next race for the Blount Motorsport team is the Ice Bowl 2016 at Talladega Short Track on January 10.
