MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Apr. 17) The Blount Motorsports team is off to a strong start in the early stages of the 2012 season. Unlike last year’s start, when it seemed that everything that could break or blow up broke and blew up, this year’s strong qualifying runs and top five finishes are just what the team needed.

March saw just two races and nothing to brag about, but April has started with a bang. On April seventh Billy qualified second and finished third in the SAS opener at Cleveland Speedway. Tommy had mechanical problems early and was 22nd. This past weekend at the SAS event at Smoky Mountain Billy qualified second and finished second and Tommy qualified third and finished third.

“We have had a couple of mechanical problems this year, but nothing like we had last year. This year’s start is a continuation of last years strong finish and although we still have not gotten our first win of the season we are pleased with the new cars and how Billy and Tommy have been running,” said Larry Garner. “The wins will come.”

“This year we are getting better breaks. Last weekend we dropped a cylinder and were able to finish second. Last year if we lost a cylinder we would have finished 22nd or something,” said Ogle with a grin. “You have to qualify well, run up front and be in the hunt. This year we are doing that and like Larry said, the wins will come.”

The team plans to take this next weekend off and will be back in action in the World of Outlaws event at Tazewell Speedway. After Tazewell the team will run the Ultimate sanctioned event at Volunteer Speedway on May 5.
