MARYVILLE, Tenn (July 26) When a race team that had been struggling like Blount Motorsports finally gets things on track you want to build on your success. After back-to-back Southern All Star wins the team went into last week’s three Southern National races doing every thing possible to continue it’s new found success.

On Thursday night at Cleveland Speedway Tommy Kerr set fast time in qualifying. When the checkered flag fell Billy Ogle Jr. was second and Tommy posted a sixth place finish.

On Friday night the scene shifted to Volunteer Speedway. Tommy was caught up in a multi car altercation on the first lap and out early with a bent tie rod. This led to a 21st place finish. When Billy came into the pits after finishing sixth he told the crew something was wrong with the engine. When the crew found a burnt spark plug wire there was a collective sigh of relief.

On Saturday night at Tazewell Speedway Billy started fourth and posted a second place finish. Tommy started eighth and finished fourth. Both pulled into the pits after the race with two together race cars.

“When things start coming around and going your way you are really afraid to feel too good about it because you might jinx it,” said Larry Garner. “If it had been a month ago the problems we had on Friday night would have been a blown engine and a destroyed race car. We had a good weekend to make it two good weekends in a row and that is what we have been working toward.

Everyone on the team works so hard it is nice to see them get some positive results from all of their hard work.”

The team will head to Talladega Short Track this Saturday for the Southern All Star sanctioned 14th Annual Michael Head Memorial.
