MARYVILLE, Tenn (May 19) Tommy Kerr and the Blount Motorsports Team scored another top five finish, when the Castone/Kelso Oil Company Impala SS was the third car to cross the line in the Tennessee Thunder event at Wartburg Speedway on Friday night.

Finishing second in the dash Tommy lined up on the outside second row. When the front row cars couldn’t get a decent start officials swapped the first and second rows putting Tommy on the outside front row. When the green flag flew the top four cars battled for position and Tommy was in second when things were sorted out. After a multi lap battle with Billy Ogle Jr. Tommy would find himself in third on lap 10 and would hold that spot until the end of the 40 lap event.

“We chose to run hard tires and it was not the right decision,” said Tommy with a grin. “We were able to come away with another top five finish tonight and are looking forward to the three races over the upcoming Memorial Weekend.”

After getting off to a rocky start Tommy and the BMS team have scored a first, a second, a third and an eighth place finish in their last four races.

“Things are coming together and we feel good about the three races coming up this next weekend,” said team owner Larry Garner. “On Sunday we will make our fourth trip to Eldora Speedway which will help us prepare for The Dream on June 6.”

This weekend will start with a Tennessee Thunder race at Boyd’s Speedway on Friday. On Saturday they will run a Battle of the Bluegrass event at Tazewell Speedway. After Tazewell the team will drive to Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, OH for the ALMS Johnny Appleseed Classic.
