KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 19) Tommy and the Blount Motorsports team were honored Friday night during the Advance Auto Parts Thunder Series banquet at the Hilton in downtown Knoxville. The Maryville, TN based dirt Late Model driver and team finished fourth overall in the season long point battle which was enough for them to win the coveted Rookie of the Year title.
“This was our first season racing in a traveling series and one of our goals was to win the Rookie of the Year title. The fact that we were able to accomplished that was the result of a lot of hard work by everyone at Blount Motorsports,” said Kerr accepting the award. “Even with all the hard work we would not have been able to do any of this without support from our families, our fans and our sponsors.
I would like to thank Larry and Steve Garner, the Blount Motorsports crew and our sponsors, Blount Excavating, Stowers Machinery Corp., Kelso, Reality III, Murphy Bobcat, Turner Industrial Supply, Wine and Spirits Cellar, American Fidelity Bank, Insurance Partners and Cast Stone.”
With a successful season behind them the Blount Motorsports team plans to run the complete Advance Auto Parts Thunder Series again in 2007 with their eye on the championship. On weekends when the series is idle you can look for BMS to race the bigger events at area tracks.
