MARYVILLE, Tenn. (May 2,) Tommy went to the rear twice, once for a spin and once after being caught up in a wreck, and came back to notch a tenth place finish at the Plateau Spring 50 Advance Auto Parts Thunder Series event at Crossville Speedway Saturday night.

Thirty laps into the 50-lap event Kerr had moved under Randy Weaver for the lead when he spun the race car and made his first trip to the rear of the field. After working his way back to sixth he was caught up in a wreck and found himself in the rear again. He was able to drive back to a tenth, which is where he finished.

"The driver was trying too hard," grimaced Tommy explaining his spin. "The crew gave me a great car, the track was racy and we should have done a lot better, but the driver messed up."

In the 2006 Sunoco Shootout, that was postponed do to bad weather last year, and was run at Crossville with Kerr finishing eighth.

The Crossville event kicked off seven consecutive weekends of racing for the Advance Thunder Series. A stint that will see Kerr and the BMS team race at six different race tracks in five different states over the next six Saturdays. Volunteer Speedway will be this Saturday May 5.

"With the cold and rainy spring weather earlier it seemed like the season would never get started, but it has really taken off now," said team owner Larry Garner. "The next six races will be a mixed bag with tracks we have done well at and tracks we have never seen before."
