MARYVILLE, Tenn. (June 30) Tommy Kerr was looking at a second place finish or maybe a win when a late race altercation with leader Mike Marlar put him at the rear of the field. In the remaining laps of the 50-lap event Tommy was able to come back to finish eighth.

On a late race restart Marlar was in the lead with Tommy second. When the lead duo dove into turns three and four Marlar slowed radically and Tommy hard on the gas ended up hitting and spinning him out.

“I was on the gas and there was Mike (Marlar) bowed up in the corner. Next thing I know I was on top of him and he spun. I knew I was going to the rear and the officials sent Marlar to the back too,” said Tommy. “I told the officials that he (Marlar) hadn’t done anything and that it was all on me, but they sent him to the back anyway.

Although it was a rough night for Tommy he experienced no problems with his back and neck that had been plaguing him for the last three weeks.

“The doc has me pretty well tuned up. That combined with the help from Robert at Butlerbilt with extra padding and support has got me over the back and neck problems,” concluded Tommy.

Over the Fourth of July weekend Tommy and the BMS team will be racing the unsanctioned $7,500 to win event at Wartburg Speedway on Friday night. On Saturday and Sunday nights they will be racing in two Lucas Oil Series events one at Volunteer Speedway and the other at Tazewell Speedway.
