MARYVILLE, Tenn. (July 20) With the first six of the 10 Southern National Series events in the books, Tommy Kerr and the Blount Motorsports team find themselves leading the series point battle. Although they had not seen five of the six tracks they have raced on they have notched three top five and six top 10 finishes.

“Since the first race at Wytheville, where we finished third, we have not been to a track that we have raced on before. We have had a good car every night and have not finished out of the top 10,” said Tommy.Tommy’s lowest finish was at Swainsboro Raceway where Kerr came from a lap down to finish ninth. After stopping because of a wreck which didn’t bring out a caution flag he found himself way behind. His highest finish was third at Wytheville, the only track he had previously raced on.

“After last night when we raced at Fort Payne Motor Speedway the last four races will be in our own back yard. They will be at race tracks that we are familiar with and have a comfort level of sorts Not to mention we will be eating home cooking,” concluded Tommy with a grin.

The races following Fort Payne Motor Speedway are all in East Tennessee and include Crossville Tuesday, Cleveland Thursday, Volunteer Friday and Tazewell on Saturday.Blount Motorsports enjoys sponsorship from Blount Excavating, Stowers Machinery Corp., Kelso, Turner Industrial Supply, GEOServices, Cast Stone, Wine and Spirits Cellar, Insurance Partners, Explosive Specialists and the newest addition Arnold Trucking of Tellico Plains Tenn.

They race a GW Performance Rocket chassis with power from Custom Race Engines, shocks from Öhlins, chassis and suspension components from TWM, seats from Butlerbilt and tires from Hoosier Racing Tires.
