MARYVILLE, Tenn. (April 3) Tommy drove the Stowers Cat/Blount Excavating GTO to a strong fourth place finish in the Advance Thunder Series event at Toccoa Speedway Saturday night. The finish was enough to move Tommy and the BMS team to the top of the series point standings.
Finishing fourth in the Sunoco Quick Six #2 dash and started the 60 lap event in the eighth starting spot.
“We had a good car and I had been able to save the car and the tires for the end,” said Tommy. “With no radios and no scoreboard it was hard to tell how many laps were left and I think we waited too long to make our move.”
He went on to say that it is nice to be leading the points, but with only three races in the books it doesn’t really mean that much this early in the season.”Being just three races into the season the points can change like spring weather. Now if there were just three races left in the season and we had just took the point lead that would be something to get excited about,” concluded Tommy.
The next scheduled event is the Advance Thunder Lamar Lowery Memorial at Cleveland Speedway Saturday April 14. Although it is suppose to be unseasonably cold this weekend, the team is considering racing at Volunteer Speedway, Cleveland Speedway or North Georgia Speedway.
