MARYVILLE, Tenn. (June 12) The combination of a good car and a bad race track added up to a sixth place finish for Tommy Kerr and the BMS team Saturday night in the SAS race at The Mountain Raceway Park in Maryville, TN.

After qualifying and starting fourth Kerr was able to hang on and almost made it to the end of the 50-lap event. With three laps to go and being one of the three cars on the lead lap he lost a fan belt and ended the race in the pits.

“It was like racing in a plowed field here tonight. With that said prepping a race track is not an exact science and sometimes you are going to miss it,” said Kerr. “We had a good car and made a couple good runs at Weaver. I don’t know if we could have got him, but with the track being what it was we will never know.”

On Thursday, Friday and Saturday night of this week the BMS team will compete in three consecutive Lucas Oil Series $10,000 to win event. On Thursday night they will be at Cleveland Speedway for the Lucas Oil Race for Juvenile Diabetes. On Friday and Saturday nights they will be at Volunteer Speedway for the Scorcher that features back-to-back events on Friday and Saturday night.

“We are primed and ready to go for these three Lucas races coming up,” continued Kerr. “Volunteer is one of our best tracks. We practiced there last week and were pleased with the results.”
