MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 17) Donald and the Boys had a tough outing at Eldora Speedway for the 45th Annual World 100. They didn’t make Thursday’s prelim, got better and qualified first in their group and third out of 106 entries overall only to be stuffed into the wall on the second lap of their heat race.
After a slow start and not making Thursday prelim the team was able to get the car better for Friday’s prelim that rain pushed to Saturday.
“We got the car better and Donald did a great job qualifying for the second prelim. They invert the heat races, but we have moved into a transfer spot by the second lap and things were looking good,” said David. “Things were looking good until we were put into the wall during the second heat. It was a really hard hit and Donald ended up with a concussion. The car will have to go back to Rocket and 50% of the parts on the car are junk.
Donald is on the mend and will take the next couple of weekends off with teammate Tommy Kerr running the SAS event at Smoky Mountain Speedway this weekend. We have already started putting things back together so we can run the remainder of the season.”
Donald had a CAT scan to make sure there were no other complications with the concussion. They didn’t find any additional problems and he will be back in action for the Lucas Shootout at Dixie and Showdown at Rome.
