MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Jul. 7) Donald McIntosh and the Blount Motorsports Team did not fair well in the Ultimate Super Late Model Series race at Golden Isles Speedway. A combination of wet weather and a rough race track helped them to a 17th place finish.

The race was moved from Saturday night to Sunday afternoon because of rain. McIntosh started 11th on the grid in the 10k to win event, was passing for fifth with three laps to go when he caught a rut and lost the J-bar. He would be scored 17th in the final tally.

“We started with the same setup we used for the Lucas races here in February, but that didn’t work out well. We were able to get the car pretty good and then the track got us,” said David Bryant. “There are no guardrails around the infield. Everyone keeps getting lower and lower looking for mud and it got rougher than a cob.”

The Sunday night Spring Nationals make up race at Swainsboro was rained out once again.

McIntosh and teammate Tommy Kerr will be racing on Friday night in the Ultimate Series event at Smoky Mountain Speedway. It will be determined after Friday’s race whether or not Kerr will make the trip to 411 Motor Speedway for the second Ultimate Series event of the weekend.
