MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 14) A misplaced gear and an exploding transmission took care of any chance that Casey and the Blount Motorsport team would have had in the Clash race at Cherokee Speedway on Saturday.

The track was so muddy for hot laps that it was impossible to tell that the car had the wrong gear.

“The gears got switched around at the last race and the crew chief shot himself in the foot when he didn’t check the gear before he put it in the rear end,” said David with a grimace. “The track for hot laps was really muddy and we didn’t find out about the gear until we went out to qualify. Vic Hill makes a good engine, but I don’t care how good it is it wouldn’t stand up to those rpms.”

Needless to say they didn’t qualify well and were relegated to the B main. While leading the B the transmission came apart signaling that it was time to call it a night. Roberts and the team loaded up and headed home.

“We will just keep digging and be at Crossville this Friday night and down at North Georgia on Saturday,” concluded David.
