MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 17) Tommy Kerr and the Blount Motorsports Team came up just a little short over the weekend with a third place finish at Wartburg Speedway and a second at Tri-County Race Track.
On Friday night at Wartburg Tommy won the first dash and led the first 28 laps of the 40-lap Tennessee Thunder feature. He was passed by Billy Ogle and ran in second until Anthony White put him to third with a last lap pass.
“We had a good car and everything was real racy until the right header went all to pieces,” said Tommy shaking his head. “It was just one of those things, but that doesn’t make it any less frustrating.
On Saturday night Tommy would win the second dash and take the lead at the drop of the green flag. He would lead the next 37 laps before a lapped car cost him the lead and Billy Ogle took the point. He would finish second.
“I had every intention of staying low to get around the lapped car, but he switched lanes on me and I went high. Billy (Ogle) went low and took the lead. If we would have been able to go low I think the top two positions would have been reversed, but you never know,” ,” concluded Tommy.
This week the team will be competing at Volunteer Speedway for the Lucas Oil Series Scorcher 100 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Tuesday night is practice, Wednesday is qualifying and heat races and Thursday night is the Sixth Annual Scorcher 100 that pays $20,000 to win.
