MARYVILLE, Tenn. (May 1) Starting seventh Billy Ogle Jr. piloted the Blount Motorsports Late Model to a fifth place finish in the WoO event at Smoky Mountain Speedway Saturday night while team driver Tommy Kerr posted a sixteenth place finish.

Ogle ran second in his heat and started seventh on the grid after drawing seven in the redraw. After holding his own for the first 40 laps of the 50-lap feature the tires started to come in. He moved up a couple of spots and crossed under the checkered flag in fifth position.

“We went a little harder with our tires and they started to come in about lap 40. I was able to move up there at the end and I could see the leaders ahead of me,” said Ogle. “We had a strong car and a good run. I would have liked to have seen what would have happened if there were a few more laps.”

It was a long night for Kerr as he started out with a broken drive shaft on his first qualifying lap. He started 24th on the field and was making some headway when he had a flat tire on lap 13 which put him in the back of the field again. He was scored 16th in the final tally.
