MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Apr. 12) The weather warmed up a bit this past weekend and so did the Blount Motorsports Team. On Saturday night at North Georgia Speedway the team cars finished second and eleventh and on Sunday at Volunteer Speedway they finished third and sixth.

On Saturday night Billy Ogle Jr. in the 201 Rocket set fast time and finished second in the Volunteer Series event at North Georgia Speedway. Tommy Kerr driving the 4T Rocket finished eleventh.

“Everyone on the team is working real hard and we are getting closer with every race. This is the first time I have ever driven a Rocket Chassis and we don’t lack much of getting it where I like it,” said Ogle. “It’s just a matter of time before Tommy and I both break out and show everyone what this team is capable of doing.”

On Sunday at Volunteer Speedway for the unsanctioned $5,000 to win event Ogle would finish third and Kerr sixth.

“We had a good car and it was getting better toward the end of the race,” said Kerr. “There was a caution with five to go and when we went back to green I took a shot at Billy (Ogle) and Dillon who were racing for third. While I was doing that Brindle passed me on the high side and I ended up sixth.”

For the last two weekends the mechanical problems that have plagued the team starting in Florida were not a factor. With good runs under their belts the team heads for three consecutive Southern All Star races starting with Smoky Mountain Speedway on Saturday night.

Blount Motorsports enjoys sponsorship from Arnold Trucking, Bearden Oil Company, Blount Excavating, Cherokee Millwright, GEOServices, Insurance Partners, Massey Electric, Stowers (CAT) Machinery Corp. and Wine and Spirits Cellar.
