MARYVILLE, Tenn. (July 8) Donald was run over and had a flat as the rains came on Wednesday night in the Iron-Man Firecracker 40 at Tazewell Speedway. The event was restarted on Thursday and Donald and the BMS team didn’t return to finish the event. He was credited with an11th place finish.
Donald was second quick in the second group and was slated to start fourth. The car ahead of him was unable to answer the call and he moved up to start on the outside front row. Early in the event he was body slammed by the eventual winner, lost a bunch of sheet metal and ended up in third. Running third he had a tire go down and then the rains came.
“When the rains came and they called the race we knew that we would have to start in the rear when they ran it the next day so we stayed home and celebrated the Fourth with our families,” said David. “We will put another body on the car and get everything ready for the Southern Nationals that start on Saturday at Wythe Raceway.”
The next race is the Southern Nationals event at Wythe Raceway. This will be the 15th year for the Schaeffer’s Southern Nationals and will have 11 races in five states over 15 days.
